La lavande, une solution efficace contre les poux!

Lavender, an effective solution against lice!

While head lice are relatively harmless from a medical standpoint, their presence can cause intense itching and daily concerns. Fortunately, there are methods that can help you prevent these unwelcome visitors.

To the dismay of parents, the back-to-school season also marks the return of head lice! These tiny insects easily spread from one child to another, and getting rid of them can be challenging. While head lice are relatively harmless from a medical standpoint, their presence can cause intense itching and daily concerns. Fortunately, there are methods that can help you prevent these unwelcome visitors. We will present some of them in this timely blog article for the back-to-school season!

About Head Lice:

Head lice are small parasitic insects that exclusively live on the human scalp. They feed on blood by biting the scalp. Adult lice are about 2 to 3 millimeters in size and are grayish to light brown in color. Their eggs, called nits, are attached to the hair close to the scalp and are white or beige. The female louse can lay up to 10 eggs per day, and these eggs can take up to 7 days to hatch. Contrary to popular belief, lice do not jump from head to head, and direct contact is necessary for a child to get them.

Prevention:

There are several ways to prevent head lice. These pests dislike the scent of lavender, which has been known for a long time to naturally repel them. Discover our prevention kit consisting of lavender-based products for hair, neck, and fabrics, of course!

It includes:

  • Lavender 2-in-1 Shampoo: During lice season, we recommend using our 2-in-1 shampoo for every wash. This will give your child's hair a lavender scent, which will naturally repel lice.
  • Pure Lavender Essential Oil Roll-On Applicator: The ultimate product for lice repellent! Apply it directly behind the ears and on the neck. Since lavender also has excellent healing properties, you can use the roll-on applicator on minor wounds and insect and lice bites.
  • Lavender Linen Water (60 ml)A convenient spray format for caps and hats, pillows, and anywhere your child might rest their head.

A product not included in our prevention kit but one we consider essential: Our pure lavender essential oil! We appreciate it for its soothing, healing, and purifying properties, as well as its relaxing scent that pests don't enjoy as much as we do.

Additional Steps:

  • Education and Awareness: Inform your children about head lice and explain to them the importance of not sharing personal items such as combs, brushes, hats, and scarves. Also, tie up your child's hair if it's long enough.
  • Regular Monitoring: Regularly examine your children's heads for signs of infestation, such as nits or adult lice. The earlier you spot an infestation, the easier the treatment will be.

Lice Treatment:

If your child is dealing with head lice, we recommend consulting a pharmacist who can guide you toward the most appropriate treatment.

Best of luck to all the parents! 💜
