New at Bleu Lavande: Romantic Thursdays

We are positively thrilled to tell you about Bleu Lavande’s Romantic Thursdays! On July 20 and 27, and August 3 and 10, our lavender fields will be open until 9pm. You are warmly invited to come watch the sun set on our lavender fields and soak up the beauty of our lavender farm.

Make it even more magical… bring a delicious picnic! Bleu Lavande has concocted a variety of picnic basket menus inspired by local fare, including beverage options that are 100% made in Québec.

The Gourmet Basket

Delicious cheeses, pâtés and charcuteries are made in Québec! These are just marvellous for picnics.

  • Try the delicious cheeses from Campton’s Fromagerie Station which you can buy from them or from certain grocery stores.
  • The Eastern Township’s own Charcuteries Scotstown makes artisanal charcuteries that are widely sold across the province.
  • Delicious rillettes and pâtés made in Brome Lake by Canards du Lac-Brome.
  • And finally, scrumptious bread to pair with all this deliciousness! We recommend baguettes and pavés from L’Atelier du pain, a Magog-based bakery.

The Sweet Basket

Enjoying dessert right on our lavender farm… sounds pretty sweet! Consider some of these delicious locally made sweets to add to your basket:

  • Vanden Eynden chocolates made in Magog and available right near our farm.
  • Wildly delicious donuts from Ça Beigne, available at their store in Sherbrooke but also sold at Café Les Estries in Magog.
  • A luxurious choice of pastries from Les Vraies Richesses that will please anyone and everyone!
  • And of course, sweet, sweet strawberries grown in Québec available in just about every supermarket. Or pick them yourself! Visit the Fraîches du Québec website to find a strawberry field near you.

The Quick Basket

Not enough time to prepare a picnic? Try these prepared foods and just focus on enjoying the evening without all the prep work.

  • Magog’s famous bagels from La Fabrique de Bagels Café Noir with a variety of spreads and other sides to choose from. Conveniently, they just happen to be located near our farm!
  • Artisanal savoury pies and pâtés made on site by Marché Ferme Beaulieu.
  • Smoked trout from Ferme piscicole des Bobines which you can buy in a number of grocery stores. Tip! This pairs marvellously with those bagels from La Fabrique!
  • A variety of sandwiches and salads from Pain Voyageur, a bakery where you’ll find just about everything, even veggie options!

…and to Drink

No matter what you choose to put in your picnic basket, you’ll need to include beverages. Here are some recommendations for refreshing drinks and mocktails 100% made in Québec!

  • Apple or apple and strawberry wort from cider house Cidrerie Milton, available at a variety of outlets and grocery stores.
  • Mocktail syrups from Ô Sirop to help you concoct your very own drinks.
  • Natural and artisanal sodas from Bull’s Head, operating in Sherbrooke for 125 years now!
  • Alcohol-free ready-to-drink mocktails from Cherry River, so delicious! Cosmo, Mojito, or Moscow Mule... your choice!
  • KWE Cocktail has syrups and products for every taste. Did you know they use Bleu Lavande’s own lavender in their blueberry and lavender syrup recipe?

Essential Picnic Add-Ins:

  • A cooler to keep food and drinks nice and fresh
  • A big picnic blanket
  • A cutting board (or two)
  • A sharp knife and reusable utensils
  • Reusable plates and drinking glasses
  • Cloth napkins

Life’s a picnic! Enjoy!
